ATL Blue Fuel Cell Safety/Baffle Foam - 300mm Cube
ATL Blue Fuel Cell Safety/Baffle Foam - 300mm Cube
The ATL fuel cell safety/baffle foam is used in fuel cells to reduce fuel surge, aid fuel pick up and reduces risk of explosion from vapour ignition and fuel tank compression from impact. Most of ATL Saver Cell's are supplied as standard with the Yellow safety/baffle foam (please refer to Saver Cell product listing) and in circumstances where the foam is being installed into aftermarket fuel cells, such as a custom manufactured tank or Nuke Performance's AluCell, we recommend the foam is installed into the tank in as few pieces as possible to prevent the foam from moving around within the tank. It is not recommended to install this foam into a fuel cell that cannot be disassembled or opened.
Safety foam is a vital component to the safety of the fuel system and as a result it is mandated by the FIA (FT3-1999 & FT3.5-1999). Its purpose is primarily a safety product which is an explosion suppression but also serves as an excellent baffle to minimise fuel surge. For high Ethanol content fuels such as E85, the Yellow safety foam is the most suitable, however it must be regularly inspected.
Do I need Yellow or Blue baffle foam?
- Yellow - For use with petrol or E85 Ethanol fuel (with E85 it is advisable to drain the fuel off if the vehicle is not in use).
- Blue - For use with Diesel, Methanol and Water.
Please note: ATL's safety/baffle foam is sold in 27 Litre cubic foot blocks (300mm x 300mm x 300mm). The foam can be supplied in custom shapes and quantities. Please contact us for further information.
